Cookie as everyone has come to know him as is an Artiodac from Takodana. The Artiodac are not known from there good looks. Cookie is known as the ugliest of the ugly. Because of his looks, Cookie had to find his own way through the world. He was inspired by old holovids of Gormaanda, the Star Wars version of Julia Child, who was able to take something plain and make it exquisite.

Cookie took his newfound inspiration and decide to travel the galaxy aboard his modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede Transport ship collecting new spices and recipes on the outer rim planets. During his travels, Cookie honed his skills and created new tasty recipes.

After a while Cookie was discovered by Maz Kanata and became the head chef at her castle. He fed the savory and not so savory guests. The next century went pretty well for Cookie then the First Order destroyed the castle along with his kitchen during the Battle of Takodana.

Cookie took this opportunity to pursue a life-long dream of owning and operating a food transport. Cookie set up shop on Batuu in Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. You can see his Sienar-Chall Utilipede Transport ship on the roof in Galaxy’s Edge. His cargo containers also include a fun Easter egg. The numbers – 77, 80, and 83 – represent the release years of the original Star Wars trilogy films.

Other Appearances

Cookie’s most notable appearance is in a brief scene at Maz’s castle in Episode VII: The Force Awakens when Han Solo, Rey, Finn, and BB-8 enter the castle to talk to Maz. Tuggs can be seen walking by as they enter the castle. Cookie also makes other appearances in the Galaxy’s Edge based books Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire Outpost and Crash of Fates. Fans can read and get his recipes as they are featured in the Galaxy’s Edge Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook

Overall Thoughts

Cookie Tuggs is one of those that if you didn’t take the time to research you might not even know who he is. He makes a very brief non-speaking appearance in The Force Awakens on-screen and off-screen you can read a little about him in Galaxy’s Edge books. Even though he isn’t featured a lot in canon he is an interesting character. If you ever get a chance to visit Galaxy’s Edge, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo should be on the top on your list of places to stop by. The food there is amazing and knowing Cookie’s back story makes the experience that much better.
