Oga Garra is one of the most notorious residents of the Black Spire Outpost (BSO) located on the planet Batuu. Oga seems to have her hands in all the goings-on in BSO. She owns one of the most popular places in Black Spire, Oga’s Cantina. The cantina is a lively establishment and is always filled with travelers from all over the galaxy. She employees almost everyone that works in BSO. She even gave R-3X a stab at a new career after he left Star Tours. R-3X, better known now as DJ R-3X, is the resident DJ inside the Cantina. But who is Oga Garra? What else is she up to in Black Spire?
Who is Oga Garra?
Oga is a female Blutopian. She is one of two female Blutopians mentioned in canon the other being Oolin Musters. According to local Batuuans Oga has her hands in all the businesses in Back Spire. Locals are afraid to cross her and always try to stay on her good side. She has spies everywhere. They make sure her business isn’t disrupted by the First Order.
Locals believe that Oga is not only involved in her legitimate business of the cantina but that she also runs various side businesses that are more…questionable. One rumor going around is that she is actually running organized crime in BSO. We have heard that she takes protection money from local business owners, runs a gambling ring, and does a little smuggling on the side.
Dont’ Cross Her
The novel Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire reveals Oga dated a Wookiee named Dhoran who runs the wood carving station inside the market in Black Spire. If you ever get a chance to visit Galaxy’s Edge you should check it out. He is very talented. Dhoran made one BIG mistake and supposedly paid a high price for it. He cheated on Oga with a waitress named Meeba. Oga then ordered him to leave Batuu or die.
He didn’t take her threat seriously and the alleged crime boss shot him. There is one resident she does not mess with out of respect, Dok-Ondar. Dok is the oldest living resident of Black Spire. He owns and operates one of the most popular destinations in BSO, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. We aren’t completely sold on Dok as being a legitimate business owner either, but that is a whole other story.
Intergalactic Woman of Mystery
We don’t know much about Oga Garra and her past. She is secretive and doesn’t share much about herself. We do know that she runs a hopping cantina in BSO and that travelers wait in long lines just to go in for a short 45-minute reservation. We also know that according to locals she is up to no good. A good example of this is the blaster marks inside the cantina on one of the walls. Rumors persist that those blaster marks are from when Oga shot her former lover. We hear from good sources that those marks are actually from a bar fight between Thrawn, Anakin Skywalker, and the former owner.
Any way you slice it Oga Garra is mysterious and we may never know her entire story. All we know for sure is don’t cross her. You might not make it out of Black Spire Outpost alive!
