Concept Series Darth Vader vs. Darth Vader Funko POP!

The concept series of Funko POP! explores designs inspired by concept art from some of our favorite Star Wars characters. The concept series Darth Vader vs. Darth Vader comes with its own set of similarities and differences.

Concept Series Darth Vader Funko POP!

The concept series Darth Vader has a very different look from the traditional Darth Vader that we see in all the Star Wars movies. Two of the biggest differences are the coloring of the Funko POP and the shape of the helmet. The color of the concept series Darth Vader is dark gray with blue/gray accents. In this version of Darth Vader, his lightsaber isn’t the recognizable red that we have come accustomed to seeing it is blue.

The concept series Darth Vader vs. Darth Vader comes with its own set of similarities and differences.

The concept Darth Vader still has that half man half machine vibe that Darth Vader gives us but it is presented in a very different way. The Darth Vader we see in Star Wars movies, TV shows, comics, etc…is much more ominous.

The helmet shape of the concept series Darth Vader is much flatter on the top than the traditional style we always see. The eye sockets are black on this helmet and the helmet itself is dark gray. This effect gives Darth Vader much larger eyes that almost appear alien.

Light & Sound Darth Vader Funko POP!

The Light & Sound Darth Vader Funko POP! has the traditional design that fans have come to know. It is much more dark and scary. Darth Vader is dressed in all black with silver accents. His suit features the recognizable panel and of course he is holding his red lightsaber. The bonus that you get with the Light & Sound Darth Vader Funko POP is that his lightsaber lights up and it makes the iconic deep breathing sound that fans have come to know, love, and fear at the same time.

Concept Series Darth Vader vs. Darth Vader

When the two Funko POP! are placed next to one another the similarities and differences really stand out. The concept series Darth Vader still has the look of Darth Vader but looks distinctly different.

I am very happy that the final design of Darth Vader turned out the way it did. The concept series Darth Vader just is not the same. Darth Vader is a dark, tall, mysterious character that when he was first seen on the big screen in 1978 in Episode IV, A New Hope terrified fans. The concept series Darth Vader just doesn’t have that same presence. I am also happy that Darth Vader has the red lightsaber in my opinion it compliments his Darkside persona. It adds a distinct difference between good and evil.
