The Build

The build of the LEGO The Child set was pretty straight forward. the set is designed for ages 10 and up so the directions are pretty easy to follow. The Child is build around a hollow framework that is built first. After 4 panels are added that make up The Child’s robe.

The most difficult part of the build was the panels that make up The Child’s robe. The panels are made of a few different layers of various light brown pieces. The way the panels are laid out and the variety of pieces used creates a really interesting texture. The top of the robe is smooth and down the front center is a smoother texture are well indicating a different material.

The most interesting part of this build was the head with a focus on the eyes. I didn’t notice at first but the black circle that creates the eyes pupil is surrounded by an outer brown circle. The black circle piece has two black square pieces on the back and one flat black triangular piece. These pieces give the eye more depth and a more realistic shape.

Interesting Features

The LEGO The Child set has a few interesting features that I would like to point out. The ears of The Child move up a down a little. They can lay flat for a more concerned look or can be raised slightly for a more curious look. The LEGO The Child set also has very cool hands. The hand and fingers of Baby Yoda are really detailed. I love the addition of the small white triangle as a claw. It’s the perfect use of that piece.

The Child is holding a small silver ball in his hand. Fans of The Mandalorian will recognize this ball at the top of the Razor Crest’s gear shift. On the show Baby Yoda could not stop unscrewing it to play with it. I think this is a great accessory to add to the LEGO set. The hand rotates so if you don’t want to display The Child with the ball in his hand it won’t look awkward.

The Child Minifigure

One of the best features of the LEGO The Child set is the Baby Yoda Minifigure. The Minifigure is unique because it’s so small. It’s about the half the size of a traditional LEGO Minifigure. The detailing on this Minifigure is perfect. Baby Yoda has wrinkles on his head and a printed pattern on the top half of his robe. I also like how the Ultimate Collectors Edition (UCS) style sign is included with this set making it even better for displaying.

Where Can I Get This Set?

The LEGO The Child set is available at retailers such as Amazon, The LEGO Store, and any other retailer where LEGO is sold. We bought ours at the LEGO Store at Disney Springs.

Score

9 Amazing

The LEGO The Child set is awesome! The only improvement I would make is the size. It isn’t to life size. I understand why LEGO didn’t make it larger. It would increase the price significantly. Overall, This set is great and it makes great edition to my LEGO Star Wars collection.
