Rosario Dawson confirmed for The Mandalorian Season 2

It is official! Thanks to a story shared by the Disney+ Instagram account in Germany, we have official confirmation that Rosario Dawson will be in The Mandalorian’s second season. Dawson has long been rumored to be playing Ahsoka Tano.

No Ahsoka confirmation

Dawson herself has never commented on the news, so we don’t officially know who she is playing. The story post, first uncovered by Kessel Run Transmissions on Twitter, only mentions her by name.

Timothy Olyphant confirmed

Olyphant as Raylen Givens in Justified

As you can see from the story, actor Timothy Olyphant has also been confirmed as part of the season 2 cast for The Mandalorian. Olyphant is no stranger to westerns and western-inspired shows, having starred in both HBO’s Deadwood and Justified on FX. Olyphant is rumored to be playing Cobb Vanth, a self-appointed sheriff on Tatooine who acquired Boba Fett’s armor after it was salvaged by Jawas. A borderline antihero lawman character is right in Olyphant’s wheelhouse, so that Vanth certainly makes sense there.

Also mentioned in the Disney+ Germany story is Sasha Banks, a current WWE performer. Banks can be seen briefly in the season two trailer wearing a black cloak and disappearing behind shipping containers. Several outlets began speculating that Banks was playing Ahsoka and not Rosario Dawson based on that appearance, but we ignored that story as the scene gives zero indication that she is Ahsoka, nor does she look like Ahsoka at all in the available footage.

A few more weeks

Exactly how long we’ll have to wait for character confirmations remains to be seen. Season 2 of The Mandalorian begins streaming on October 30th, but will again follow the weekly release schedule common with Disney+ shows. It is suspected that Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka will only appear in one episode, possibly as a backdoor pilot/jumping-off point for a Dawson-led Ahsoka Tano live-action series. We’ll find out soon enough.
