When the publishing tie-ins to Season 2 of The Mandalorian were announced, the highlight was an original novel by Adam Christopher. Originally set for a December 2020 release, the book has now been delayed by nearly a year.

The announcement moving the book to Fall 2021 was made by publisher Del Rey on Twitter:

In retweeting the announcement, writer Adam Christopher said:” Ah, the wonders of an ever-changing publishing schedule! Fear not, fellow Covert members! THE MANDALORIAN will hit the shelves next year, and you will *not* be disappointed.”

While this news is certainly disappointing, books do get delayed regularly, even without the challenges of COVID-19. Speculation points to plot points of Season 2 as well as rumored TV series, but without anything remotely concrete we won’t bother speculating.

If you want to make sure you’re covered by any further changes to the schedule, make sure you pre-order the book.
