Edge of the Galaxy

Batuu 101: Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a unique quick-service dining experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. In true Disney style, no detail is spared. The theme of the entire restaurant is a cargo dock where much-needed supplies from all over the galaxy are shipped to Batuu.

Location

Docking Bay 7 is located right across from the Millennium Falcon at Smugglers Run. If you are coming from the Market it is just past Dok-Ondar’s Den or Antiquities on the left. If you are coming from Oga’s Cantina it is just past the Millennium Falcon, up the stairs and to the right.

The Atmosphere

The inside of the restaurant is true to the theme. It looks very much like a cargo shipping hub. There are tons of random containers on shelves on the walls, larger containers on display on the floor as you enter, and even some shipping containers that you and your family can sit in as you dine. Overhead is a large shipping container featuring the number 80, which is the year that The Empire Strikes Back was released.

After you order your food, unlike any other Disney quick-service restaurant you are unable to see the kitchen area. Behind the counter is a wall and a conveyor belt. When your food is ready it arrives on the conveyor belt and a Cast Member gives it to you. We sat at a cute two-top table with seats that were shaped like shipping containers that resembled oil barrels.

The Food

The menu at Docking Bay 7 Foof and Cargo is not like any other that you may see in Disney Parks. These quick-service offerings lean more toward the foodie side of things. Some of the delicious one-of-kind meals are Fried Endorian Tip-Yip, Smoked Kaadu Ribs, Yobshrimp Noodle Salad, and the Roasted Endorian Tip-Yip Salad. The restaurant also offers a variety of youngling meals for kids 9 and under. The kids’ meals are not your typical Disney options. In other words, if you have a picky eater this may not be the place for you.

Fried Endorian Tip-Yip

We settled on ordering the Fried Endorian Tip-Yip and the Yobshrimp Noodle Salad. The Fried Endorian Tip-Yip was a large piece of high-quality, lightly-breaded chicken. The chicken sits on a mound of vegetable mashed potatoes surrounded by herb gravy. The chicken itself is juicy and well seasoned. The herb gravy is green and at first glance, you may think because of its appearance that it would taste earthy like vegetables, but that is not the case. The gravy actually is not overly flavorful and has a spice to it. Mixing the potatoes and the gravy together is very good. The mashed potatoes are not your typical Disney mashed potatoes, either. They have carrots and peas mixed in them.

Yobshrimp Noodle Salad

The Yobshrimp Noodle Salad was a noodle bowl with large shrimp, marinated noodles, and fresh vegetables. This salad is served chilled. It would be great to eat on a warm Batuuan day. There are plenty of shrimp in this salad and they are large in size. The vegetables are sliced thin and still have a crispness to them. There is some spice added from cilantro and red onion, but also a sweetness from red bell peppers. This salad is really flavorful. Disney has outdone itself with this one. Overall, everything was delicious. The presentation was on point and the flavors were spot on.

The Story

After the First Order destroyed Takodana Castle in an attempt to capture BB-8, Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs docked his transport at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. He began operating his traveling diner out of the building.
