We now have new High Republic Jedi Knight details from Starwars.com. The highly anticipated Star Wars publishing effort the High Republic makes its debut in January 2021. The High Republic is set about 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda are examples of what most people think a Jedi should be. Both Obi-Wan and Yoda taught patience, understanding, and respect. The High Republic will introduce us to Sskeer: a tough Jedi Master that doesn’t quite fit the typical Jedi mold, Avar Kriss, and the San Tekkas.
Sskeer will play a major role in the Marvel Comics series written by Cavan Scott. The Trandoshan is gruff and opinionated. He has been around the block a few more times than he would like to admit. But, like most Jedi, he is loyal and can be but a little too honest at times. Sskeer is said to be a Jedi Master with a secret that is tearing him apart inside.
Avar Kriss will be featured in the upcoming novel Light of the Jedi. She is considered the best of the best. She lives her life the way a proper Jedi Knight would. She is a wise and compassionate Jedi Master who plays a major role in the Great Disaster that opens the story. The High Republic is set at a time when the Jedi are at their peak. It will be interesting to see Avar Kriss and what she is capable of.
Beyond the noble Jedi, however, there are other power-hungry players in the galaxy. The San Tekka clan has become a force to be reckoned with, at the forefront of technologies and techniques that let Chancellor Lina Soh’s great Galactic Republic continue to safely expand its borders.
Led by Marlon and Vellis San Tekka, the clan operates in closely with the Republic and becomes a vital part of its response to the Great Disaster. But like Sskeer, the San Tekkas have a secret. Their rise did not come without a high cost.
The San Tekka name should already be familiar to Star Wars fans. Lor San Tekka, portrayed by Max von Sydow, appeared in Episode VII: The Force Awakens. He provides Poe Dameron with the missing map piece and kicks off the sequel trilogy. San Tekka would later appear in the Poe Dameron comic series.
