Galaxy’s Edge References on Jedi Temple Challenge
Jedi Temple Challenge allows young padawans the chance to go through the Jedi Trials and become Jedi Knights. The show which airs weekly on YouTube is hosted by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq (Ahmed Best), wise-cracking protocol droid AD-3 (Mary Holland), and astromech droid LX-R5. The new Star Wars kids game show has been on the air for two weeks now. After watching the first few episodes we noticed several Galaxy’s Edge references on Jedi Temple Challenge.
Lightsaber Assembling
Three teams of two padawans each race through four different obstacles to collect pieces of their lightsaber hilts. Padawans must maneuver through the Power Pull, Swing of Strength, Leap and Lift, and Saber Stability. Once all of the pieces are collected the padawans must assemble them. The process looks a lot like the Savi’s Workshop experience.
A lot of the dramatics that guests would experience at Savi’s are taken out on the show but the process is very similiar. As part of the last challenge, the young padawans receive a kyber crystal. At the end of the show, If the padawan team completes the Jedi Temple Challenge they get the chance to finish building their lightsaber. In Savi’s Workshop style the young padawans take their lightsaber out of the Saber Shrine, the lightsaber ignites and the padawans are then transformed into Jedi Knights.
Toydarian Toymaker Toys
During the second part of their trial, the padawan teams are taken aboard the Jedi star cruiser Athyia. Teams are told a story and have to use their memories to recall certain details in order to answers a series of questions. Teams are split into two jobs pilots and engineers. Inside a box that the engineers must rummage through to find clues are a few items you might recognize from the Toydarian Toymaker stall in the Black Spire Outpost Market.
I spotted several plushes including Wicket the Ewok, a porg, and a Tooka doll. Also inside the box is a Kloo Horn, which is one of the instruments played by the Cantina Band in A New Hope, a wooden sandcrawler which is mentioned in the story AD-3 told the padawans in episode 3, and an Ewok drum.
The last item that I spotted was not in the box but mentioned in the story that AD-3 tells the young padawans before they begin the second trial in episode 1. In the story a Jedi Master has the ability to form clay into sculptures using the Force. The Master’s young padawan tries the same feat and is only able to make a frog-dog with a bone in its mouth. A wooden version of this toy is available at the Toydarian Toymaker Stall.
Yoda’s Stick
Yoda’s stick can also be seen inside the box. Yoda uses a walking stick in the original trilogy movies. The stick is not sold at the Toydairan Toymaker Stall. Yoda’s stick is available at Dok-Ondars Den of Antiquities, which is also inside Galaxy’s Edge.
Bantha Plush
A Bantha plush is inside the box as well. Bantha in the Star Wars Universe are large, hairy mammals that can be seen in the deserts of Tatooine. The bantha plush is not available at the Toydarian Toymaker Stall but across the way at the Creature Stall.
Holocrons
After completing the second trial the winning padawan team receives their holocrons. The holocron, in the Star Wars Universe contains ancient lessons or valuable information. When travelers put various kyber crystals inside a recognizable voice will come on and give the holder valuable information. At Galaxy’s Edge travelers to Batuu can purchase a Jedi holocron or Sith holocron at Dok-Ondars Den of Antiquities.
