New Legacy Lightsabers Announced for Galaxy’s Edge
Based on a report from Blog Mickey and confirmed by StarWars.com, new legacy lightsabers have been announced for Galaxy’s Edge, including the fan vote winner! In total, three new sabers were announced today: Ahsoka Tano (Clone Wars), Count Dooku, and Cal Kestis.
Ahsoka Tano (Clone Wars)
We’ve known Ahsoka’s Clone Wars lightsabers were coming for quite some time now. Ashley Eckstein originally unveiled them via an Instagram post from Dok-Ondar’s. The hilts will come as a set just like the other Ahsoka set, but will feature a new ability. These new Clone Wars lightsabers will change blade colors with the push of a button. This is to factor in that Ahsoka’s sabers were originally green, but Anakin altered them prior to Ahsoka’s return in season 7 of The Clone Wars.
Count Dooku
Count Dooku’s curved hilt lightsaber has been requested for quite some time, and fans are finally getting their wish! Seen in both Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith, this unique design was used by one of the best lightsaber duelists the galaxy had ever seen.
Interestingly enough, Dooku’s saber had recently been released by Hasbro as a Black Series Force FX lightsaber. Ahsoka’s Clone Wars sabers are also coming next year from Hasbro. This may add further credence to the idea that Palpatine’s lightsaber could also be coming to Galaxy’s Edge soon.
Cal Kestis (Jedi Fallen Order)
The hero of last year’s Jedi: Fallen Order video game is seeing his lightsaber come to life as the winner of the Disney Parks Blog fan vote. Disney hasn’t revealed the exact design Cal’s saber will take yet, unless they stick to the concept art previously released. The trick with Cal’s lightsaber is the player has the ability to customize the saber in the game with a variety of finishes and designs. Some of those designs come straight out of Savi’s Workshop.
The concept art version of the saber belongs to Cal’s master, Jaro Tapal. It is meant to be a dual-bladed lightsaber staff, but was damaged during Order 66. How Disney handles that situation will certainly be interesting.
No Release Date Yet
Disney has not unveiled an official release date for the new legacy lightsabers. The Blog Mickey report just says “this Fall” which could be as soon as tomorrow or as late as December. With the way Disney has surprised us lately, I wouldn’t be shocked if these new sabers just show up at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in a few days.
The Cal Kestis lightsaber will be out next year, but the StarWars.com report was vague as far as a window was concerned.
