Mandalorian Documentary Series Coming Soon to Disney+

Disney+ announced a new documentary series called Disney Gallery this morning for the streaming platform. Kicking off the brand with be an eight-episode series focusing on The Mandalorian. The series launches on Star Wars Day, May 4th.

A Behind the Scenes Mandalorian Documentary

The tweet is all the information we have so far, but The Mandalorian documentary is assumed to be a behind-the-scenes look at the show. It will be eight episodes long, but we don’t know how long the episodes will be. Disney+’s recently launched behind-the-scenes series Disney Insider episodes run about 18 minutes each, but they also cover multiple topics an episode.

We also don’t know if this was filmed for season 1 or season 2. Season 2 is scheduled to air in October, but principal photograph is already complete. Personally, I expect a mix of the two seasons. With the coronavirus wrecking Disney’s bottom line, they’ll want to build up as much hype for their properties as they can.

If the quality is anything like the recent Skywalker Legacy documentary included with the home releases of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, this series will be absolutely fantastic. Fortunately, The Mandalorian fans will only have to wait a couple weeks before the show goes live as it launches May 4th, aka Star Wars Day.
